Sun 1/8/06 On FLW TV today..One of the Anglers got a crankbait stuck in his finger...Buried the hook past the barb..They did something with fishing line to get it out..

Found this on the web and copied for those who want to know;;
Removal of Fish Hooks
If a fish hook gets embedded in the skin so that the barb is below skin level, here's a good way to remove it. Local anaesthetic can be helpful but usually isn't needed.
 Loop a piece of strong cotton, fishing line or fine string twice around the curve of the hook where it enters the skin - see diagram below
 Push down firmly on the eye of the hook
 Take up the slack in the string - gently pull away from the barb (in line with the hook shank)
 Pull quickly (with a firm jerk) on the string. Make sure you maintain downward pressure on the eye of the hook at the same time!
Thanks to Peter Morton for his advice on how to do this best.
Another way is to push the point of the hook right around until it comes out of the skin via a second wound, then cut the hook with pliers and remove both parts.

Watched Fish Fishburne stick himself with a hook on his show just to demonstrate this procedure. That boy ain't wrapped real tight.

Bill Dance would do it all the time on his show just to show people how to do it

I know the guy that got the hook in his finger on the Everstart championship tourny. Gabe Bolivar is his name. Here is the other part of the story that's not on TV. Gabe said that they tried the string and jerk method and they didn't get it the first time and I think we all know why it wasn't on the show, maybe a few #$@* bad words were said. Point of the story (no pun intended) don't be a puss and make sure you jerk hard the first time. Unless you don't like the guy that has the hook in him. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/roll.gif
