Inexpensive rod hold down for deck
Re: Inexpensive rod hold down for deck (TR186FLA)
Unfortunately I must have got a hold of a couple of bad ones. They broke after about a month each with no tension on them. Just latched to the hook http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/mad.gif
I'm using a small bungee cord now.

We'll see how long this one lasts. It did come with a lifetime warranty. And I had the same ones on my Nitro and saw no issues with them.
Re: Inexpensive rod hold down for deck (TR186FLA)
Been using these for years. They are great.
Re: Inexpensive rod hold down for deck (TR186FLA)
I'll bet they won't last 6 months. I went through about 4 before I gave up on them in the Georgia sun. When the last one broke I lost a rod and reel!
Re: Inexpensive rod hold down for deck (TR186FLA)
Al from Canada has these in his Gambler and the eyelets started to wear out his boat cover since the wind pushes it down against them when we went to Santee Cooper towing his boat. Other than that....I like em, as long as I don't trip on the eyelets or something http://xs-s.com/zf/images/smile/emhammer.gif

Yea , them little eyelets in the middle of the floor look like they would hurt in bare feet or could possible cause you to trip and fall overboard. (Way to Safety Concious these days- working for big GE company)

My boat is a 97 and just now had one break. I will be ordering replacements momentarily.
Re: Inexpensive rod hold down for deck (TR186FLA)
those are my favrites
as far as breaking email the company they have a lifetime warrenty against breaking
Re: Inexpensive rod hold down for deck (LEGACY_HUNTER02)
Not to butt in on your tip but the strap does have a tendency to dry rot, like all rubber..........Every couple of trips I will take an armorall towelette and run it over the strap.................. Adds months to the life of the rubber!!!
Re: Inexpensive rod hold down for deck (TR186FLA)
My suggestion: On the metal part that screws onto the deck, that the strap hooks on to: take out one screw and swing it around 90 degrees. That way the hook and strap will lay flatter on the deck and will hold the rods down tighter. As far as the straps rotting, of course they will if you leave your boat out in the sun. Mine lasted about 2 years in the garage. Now, if its the same company as mine, you have to send in the receipt for the lifetime warranty to be valid. Save your purchase receipt.
Re: Inexpensive rod hold down for deck (Skeet'r89)
Had them on my last boat. liked them a lot except for the time I bent down to get a fish out of the water and drove my kneecap right onto the metal part. OOOOOOOUUUUUUCCCCCHHH (followed by a lot of cussing) http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/doh.gif .

Get a Hold of Dave at Stors'IT about his hold downs, use a one way snap and a double piece of thin bungee , nothing sticking up - cost about $7.50 and last - going on my second year http://xs-s.com/zf/images/smile/emthup.gif Had the other kind and had One fall apart . Jerry T has the Stors'It ones as Well
