Hey guys have an older early 90's Skeeter and was hoping to upgrade some of the lettering. How can I get the old SKEETER off the sides of the boat? Is there any easy way to do this. I am looking to get new graffix designed and put on the boat, is it hard to apply new graphics? Any suggestions
A heat gun on low will get you started. The remaining glue residue will come off with either acetone or some goo gone. WD40 works pretty good too.
Go to your local auto body paint supply, or probably any parts store and ask them for a pin stipe removal wheel. It's like an eraser that fits in a drill. It will pull decals right off and it WON'T hurt your finish. Very low labor involved. The hardest part is finding your drill. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/Laugh.gif

This product works great but wears down with only minimal use. and you have to also buy the small "buffer" But great to use on smaller jobs.

I did pretty much the same things. I used my wife's hair dryer to heat the decals as I pushed a scraper underneath. Took less than 5 minutes, and was very easy. Cleaned up the residue with acetone. http://xs-s.com/zf/images/smile/emthup.gif
Goo Gone will take the residue right up.
goof off worked on mine. one side can off good but the other took about an hour. its not easy but it works
leave it in the sun a bit, they'll come off easily. A hair dryer works fine too. When pealing away try it at different angles because at certain angles the glue will come off with the decal an not stay on the boat.... did mine a few times... here's what I have now

If you're using a hair dryer, don't do it outside. I did, and then had to explain to my neighbour's wife that everyone dries their boat with a hair dryer after it gets wet, otherwise it'll rust!

I take a credit card, and file one of the edges to sharpen it about like a knife blade.
Then I use the credit card to gently scrape away the sticker - just start at an edge and apply pressure with a sawing type motion, and it will do the trick.
Any residue/sticky left comes off easily with some nail polisher remover and cotton balls - the sticky gets stuck in the cotton, and works far better than using a rag or paper towel.

the absolute best way is to sell old boat buy new with new decals but im not rich so this idea is a good hint thanks for sharing
