can you guys recommend me some epoxy resin and cloth?
the only thing i would need to be using the cloth on would be the top surface of the casting deck i'm building, correct? i can just use the epoxy resin by itself on everything else - underside of the deck and the 2x4 frame?

6 ounce E- Glass cloth

Coat all the wood surfaces, everything, with at least 2 coats of the resin, especially the end grain, let it soak in as much as it wants to get a good penetration and to seal the wood.
One layer of the 6 ounce cloth on top will give it good abrasion resistance.
so the 2x4 frame doesn't need any cloth, correct?

The cloth is only on the top plywood deck for abrasion resistance, and I assume you will be carpeting the top to match the rest of the deck.
The Epoxy will make it water resistant.
Do not use any treated plywood, either marine or outdoor plywood. Most treated wood takes forever to dry out and resin has a hard time getting absorbed into the wood.
