I have a few soft spots around my livewells just like this storm.

I was just wondering, do you glass and resin underneath before you screw it in? What is the order of the steps? I am new to all of this and looking to do some projects this winter. Thanks!
Welcome! Can you post some pics of your boat / problem? There are many talented folks here who will offer help and encouragement +++. I was also a newbie to restoration and would not have tried anything had it not been for this forum! I would cut it out just like the top post ,pics. But i would went back with a picture frame lip around the live wells and also epoxy & resin all the new wood top ,bottom ,and sides before installed . Also i would do the same to top of the new ply-wood top bottom and sides also to seal it up . Then i would install the new floor or deck around the live wells with SS screw's and counter sink them then i would seal it up with a Cloth tape with three layers of epoxy and resin and while the carpet is up i would put a new layer epoxy and resin over the hole floor / deck to make sure it s seal also . Thats what i did to my floor around the floor drain this year ? these people has all you need to fix it also 'good folks '

What determines which materials get just resin and which materials get resin and glass?
Seal all of the plywood with resin, and then glass it all. Epoxy without glass is stronger than poly with out glass. But since you are there, go ahead and glass everything. Unglassed resin will fail.
Do I glass both the top and the bottom of the floor I am replacing? Also, what weight/type of fiberglass would I use? Thanks!
if your replacing deck that will be splashed underneath by the livewell, I would coat it out with resin and add a layer of glass. The reason is, even if the plywood was coated with resin, in time, the surface could "check" and let in moisture. I just added a piece of ply to my front livewell and I glassed both sides with 2 layers of 6oz cloth with epoxy resin. 6oz has a tight weave and is easy to work with, wet out, you can get a good water proof lamination with no airbubbles.
IF you buy the kit its a two parts the resin is a harder what you use a 3 to 1 ratio to the epox , then all you do is brush it on the wood and let dry then install it and seal it with the same resin & epox but just mix a new batch with the cloth tape . Just get a cheap roll from them to roll the air parkectsout of the cloth then let dry or add some before curing time then let dry and started over to the amount of layers you want , you can go to through web site and it will gave you a ideal how to do it or they can help you all so ? hope this helps AND i would put one layer of cloth under the ply wood in the lay wells and may be two in the seam to seal it up to make it strong then a couple layers of use brush on resin & epox over the hold floor to seal it then add the carpet ?
