Re: Popping the top cap (Shroomus)
Hello, sounds like you have some work in front of you w/ popping the cap off. I have seen some floors replaced under the bassboat boards w/out removing the topcap.
I'm not sure if your boat your able to pop top cap off or not. I know i restored a 1990 javelin 396Xfd. I was able to remove the top cap and on that boat i removed the carpet on the floor on bottom deck and also inside of rod boxes. I ran the prybar and used a pneumatic cutting wheel and worked the prybar along the edge of the fiberglass till everything was sucessfully loose. When I got around to the transom i placed the prybar under the underside of splashwell and worked the prybar gently along the edge and was sucessfully able to seperate the two parts. End result was i did not have to use alot of time or money once i rebuilt the transom and rework the fiberglass on top cap at splashwell. I'm sure someone else has the style of boat you have and will chime in shortly.
