Spider cracks from an impact.
Figured I'd start a new thread for this so it wouldnt clutter up and get lost in my rebuild thread. At some point my hull took a hit about 3/4 of the way towards the front of the boat. This hit separated the cap/hull screws and the hull was pushed in about 3/4 of an inch. The impact appeared to be about 3 inches below the rub rail. Once I pulled the screws out of the way the hull snapped back into place just fine.
The question is about the obvious cracks in the gel that this created. They are very fine but there are a lot of them and they radiate out about a foot each way and down about 10" from the rub rail. You can barely feel them with your fingernail. Is this necessary to fix? Will water soak through these little cracks into the cloth? Cosmetically it doesn't really bother me because you really have to look for them but if it's going to cause me issues then I'll fix it. A picture would probably be useless because I doubt it would show enough detail to see the cracks. Gelcoat repair would be tricky because it crosses two colors. I would probably just regel the whole hull a solid color and put some graphics on it.
Thanks!
