Carpet Replacement on a Champion 196
All,
I've decided to keep my boat (at least for this season) and I'm planning to replace the carpet very soon. I have a number of questions so I'll just list them.
1. If I take two days vacation on a Thursday and Friday, can I finish this project in four days total? (I'm pretty handy with tools and don't feel this project is beyond my capabilities in any way)
2. I'm planning to pad the front and rear decks (like the newer boats). Is there a special "marine" carpet pad or should I just buy regular 3/8" padding?
3. I'm planning to use a combination of Menard's outdoor carpet adhesive and 3M 77 spray adhesive. Any objections or pearls of wisdom?
4. Is one brand of 20 oz. marine carpet better than another?
5. Can these be purchased in kits? From who?
6. Anything else I should pay particular attention to?
Thanks for all the answers and input! http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/USA1.gif

i was tinking the same thing when i went to do the carpet in my boat. i started and finished the project took more than 4 days but i didnt take off work. trust me youll really apritiate the carpet job when your done with it BUT i will never do it again it sucked bad covering the lids and floor it will be well worth your time to stay at work and pay to have it done most places will replace the carpet in a bass boat for around 250 if you rip up all the old if i ever need to do it again ill just pay to have it done.......
