Polyester resin open time
I mixed up some polyester resin to coat the plywood on the new deck for my boat. Why is it that, within a few minutes, it was hardening in the cup and within 30 minutes it was hard as a rock while the resin that I had spread on the plywood was still sticky hours later?
I hope it hardens up before I get home tonight so I can apply the carpet and get the deck back in before the weekend.
Re: Polyester resin open time (Olebiker)
because it is much thicker in the cup and can build much more heat as it is kicking off.......if mixed to hot and deep in a cup it can catch fire...it will smoke and smell horrible (hotbatch) ......if you are going to leave unused catalyzed resin in a cup or bucket that has some depth to it pour water over it to be safe, it will still kick off under water....
Re: Polyester resin open time (Rollo331)
Good info. I better mix up smaller batches.
