Northrivergeek's Hydra-Sport VS150 restore progress update 11-28-08
OMG Im soo close to being done with the fiberglass work ..
I prob would have been done today , if I didn't come down with some sorta bug that hit my wife and son Tuesday, and me on Wed, I thought they had food poisoning .. but nope some sorta virus and with me it started out with hypothermia like conditions just couldn't get warm shaking all over, by the next morning the chills stopped and I was hot, then I was dizzy all day .. all I did Thanksgiving was sleep, yesterday evening diarrhea started that lasted till about 9am this morn .. and I didnt even get one bite of turkey dressing or anything http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/crying.gif
My wife and son didnt have the chills but the did have the runs and vomiting .. any way now that I have grossed you all out with TMI http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/Laugh.gif
On with what I got done today .. all the structural parts are now done. I only lack the floor, and a piece of wood under the front of the boat where the TM mounts to the bow. oh and the foam , and the rear foam boxes.
I did manage to remove the wood and grind the old resin etc out under the bow area to put new wood, now I can make a pattern and glass in the wood under there
None of these are a big deal, just will have to wait and see what the weather holds for the next couple days .. they are calling for rain.. so it maybe another week before I see good weather again..
Here are pics from today

do yourself the favor and while she is apart and up in the air like that...attach something to the underside to control the TM wires. They will eternally be in your way inside the rob box and catching rod tips etc. I know there is a "chase" of sorts in there...but the "chase" in mine does not work worth a darn. every time I pull the wires tight, running the boat gets them loose again and they end up tangled in the rods at the front.
This spring i am going to pull mine through and install a piece of PVC or something to fish then through the rob box. It is kind of a major nuisance.

Oh yes , I have already planned on putting all the wiring on the boat in pvc, all they had was a card board tube glassed over , man I don't know what these boat manufactures in the 80s where thinking but it sure want about practical function, and Id say certainly wasn't fishermen involved in the designs ! Well I guess I know what they were thinking .. a quick buck, spend no more than absolutely necessary !

The flotation foam is in, floor is in, all I lack is the rear flotation boxes/ battery trays, the place the gas tank sits which is just a small piece of ply glassed in for the tank to sit on. Then the top is ready to go back on... as soon as I get the rest of the wood done I'll post pics of the progress before the top gets put back on
