Ranger Pedestal Base Insert Replacements

I am installing new plastic inserts in a Ranger pedestal base. Do I put the thick or thin end into the base first. They also sent a small bottle glue with the plastic insert, is this to glue the insert into the pedestal base. These are the Springfield spring lock type pesdtals.

Where did you get this stuff? I have a Ranger 520c with plastic inserts. They are definately glued in. I think the thicker side goes in first.
