I am getting screwed for 1000 bucks!!!
Initial Post??
Had a windy day on the lake...took the boat off plane and was chugging across the lake rather then running it WOT...the low oil light had just come on while on my way to the boat launch...has plenty of oil in it...running with Stabil in as well...anyways took it off plane and when I tried to put the throttle back down she died and will not start again...brought it to the shop and they have been able to hot wire it to the motor and it will start then...but it wont start when connected to the console...they checked the kill switch and the starter...for some reason they are not sure what the problem is. Their guess is that the oil/fuel pump celanoid might be broken or the regulator might be the issue or it could be something totally different. I changed the spark plugs on the water and that didnt work either.
Follow up:
It turned out that they realized that it actually was the starter but they are saying that it took them 14hrs at 65/hr at a total bill of over $900 to get this thing figured out!!!!!!
$900 to figure out that it was a faulty ignition switch especially when I just bought this boat from them 35 days earlier??!!!
Is this right???

Thanks, atleast I know I am not being crazy!!! I plan to file a complaint with the BBB to make other consumers aware.

BBB complaint is worthless. The BBB is not a law enforcement agency. Best thing you can do is find a new repair shop. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/USA1.gif

Try the small claims court. You are not out much money and the judge may be on your side because of the amount charged for troubleshooting.

try a calm discussion with a dealer management resource
ask them to explain why it took 14 hrs and if no resonnable outcomes is agreed upon send them a registerd letter asking specifically for a reasonnable adjustment OR ELSE...
seeing your are serious about goint to small claim they may see a benefit in not getting any adverse publicity regardless of the juge'sc conclusions.
sometimes the embarasement factor is much more efficent than using logic.
