Judging interest in project boat - 1990 Ranger 481V Comanche
Posting for a friend to see if anyone might be interested in a project boat. He has a 1990 Ranger 481V Comanche with a blown 1999 model 175hp Yamaha. The boat is structurally sound but could use a good buffing and new carpet. It has the Ranger deck extension installed. Boat is a dark gunmetal grey with charcoal grey carpet. It has hydraulic steering and a manual 6 in. jackplate. Trailer is in good shape except for a couple of dings in the fiberglass fenders. The motor blew a powerhead a couple of years ago and he just parked it in his garage. Not sure what he wants for it, any idea what it's worth? Thanks

Since its a Ranger, you may be able to get $2000-$3000 for it. But with a blown motor
you'll probably have to wait for someone who's not afraid to rebuild it their self. Other-
wise, the prospect of having pay to have it rebuilt or having to buy a different motor,
will scare most people off. Its a shame too. That old Camanche is a great boat.

Can you get pics and find out what he would take for it?

I'll try to get some pictures this week. He may pull the motor, sell the lower unit and junk the rest (piston came through the side of the powerhead). I've fished out of this boat hundreds of times so I know the boat is good, just needs a motor and some TLC.

OK, got the pics but I'm afraid they're not that great since I had to take them in his garage. The boat has been in there for nearly two years so some of what you see on the finish is dust. You can see the carpet needs replacing and the trailer could use some cosmetic work also. Anyhow, take a look at the pictures and let me know what you think. He hasn't decided yet what he wants for it or even that he'll sell it for sure, he may decide to just hang another motor on it.

Sorry guys, I guess I jumped the gun a little bit on this deal. I talked to my friend over the weekend and after pricing new boats I think he's decided he will just keep this boat and put a new motor on it. Seems to be the most economical way for him to go at this point.
