Champ 210 - odd numbers
I have a fairly new to me 2008-Champ 210, 300XS, 8" hydraulic plate, 27 Tempest Plus. I just had a hydraulic plate installed so yesterday I spent a little time after fishing trying to dial it in and just get some seat time. I had a 1/2 tank of gas, fishing load, and full livewells. I had been running at 3 1/4" below pad with a 10" manuel. I could get it up to 5400-5500 RPM's and 72mph, 21 psi water pressure. It was wot, but still had plenty of trim left to go before the chine walk would become too much for my ability. Yesterday I tried to not pay attention to height, but just go by the advise given here "come up until you lose lift, water pressure or speed." My best runs were 75mph at 5850 RPM's, 18psi. I had a little trim still to go and speed was still rising slowly by the .1, but with the wind blowing I would just run out of good water. The chine was much more controllable. I believe I actually balanced it intentionally a couple of times. I was blowing out a little coming out of the hole (plugs should fix that) and had to trim down in turns so I knew I was getting high. I still had good lift over 4000rpms. I could tell my midrange speeds may be lower, but honestly didn't have the previous numbers to compare. Here is the odd part from everything that I have read on here. When I got home, I measured my prop to pad. I was only 3/4" below pad - measured it 3 times to be sure. I bought my prop from a guy on here and he told the prop had never been worked. Is there anyway for a non-prop expert to know if it has been worked? According to Mercury's site, my prop slippage is right at 10-11% either way. I would guess that if I had the available water yesterday, it would have peaked about 6000-6100 rpms and maybe 77ish. I have no idea what my best numbers could be if I lowered the motor back in the 3" range because the chine got too much for me to handle. The boats best becomes better than my best. Not sure if I really have a question other than just wanting to hear from the guys with much more experience and knowlege than myself.

Let's find you someone you can spend some time with to understand how to drive. I can meet you sometime in the next few weeks, 20 minutes I'll have you thinking you're Mario Andretti.
