jack plate setup help on a triton tr20
I have a 2000 tr20 triton with 200 hp merc and am putting on a jackplate. What setback does my boat need and any certain brand. I don't have much money so it has to be manual. Thank you for any help you can give. I don't want to buy the wrong size. Also is the hole shot plate on the t h jackplate that much better. Thanks.

You will need an 8 inch plate
Start the engine height at 2 1/2 inches below the pad
make sure you have a good water pump and water pump gauge
The hole shot plate will help the boat to plane off
You can get them for almost any jack plate it doesn't have to be T&H

Which motor do you have 2.5 efi or 200 opti 3.0L. Motor will make a big difference. A 6" plate won't require any new cables for shifter or steering an 8" might need new ones. If you don't have much money get the 6". The prop will have more effect on the hole shot than a hole shot plate. Height of prop to pad depends on what prop your running.
