How come it seems like I always get hosed when I have a boat claim?
This spring a I wacked a stump at KY lake. I can't tell you whose boat I was in but it was a 'competing' brand. The run around I got from my insurance company was frustrating. They fought me because I was out of state, fishing a tournament and had someone in the boat with me that was a 'drawn' partner. Then they depreciated the gearcase because it was 6 years old! With my deductible it cost me $1,800.00, they paid only $490.00!!!!!! Why?

This exactly why I came here. Most of the time we dont know the kind of coverage we have until we have a claim. This could of been a non issue if the insurance was done correctly in the first place. I can insure a 6 year old boat with agreed value on the boat and replacement cost on partial losses. Whice means this claim would not have been a bad situation. The fact that you were out of your state or fishing a tournament would not effect your claim. You would only be responsible for your deductable. I try very hard to explain and educate my clients so we do not have issues in the event of a claim. Hope this helps. Thanks Bob Luellen 800-339-1235

Because of the business I am in, how come I always get the run around with any claim I am involved. It seems because I am in the industry, every issue that arises concerning insurance is questioned. I do fish tournaments, but that is not where my income is derived. Still they try group me a "Pro'. No one I have found does a policy that will keep me from running into issues when I have a problem.

Thats exactly why I chose progressive. Total boat replacement and 5,000 worth of tackle replacement. I hit a stump on choke my first time down there and knocked a little more tha the skeg off. They replaced the whole lower unit and prop! No problems....

I have SafeCo of Illinois ins. I sunk my old 1975 boat this summer. They sent me a check for amount of insurance. No problem, no deductible due to it being a total loss. Highly recommend.

I made 2 claims in about 8 months...first one a rod strap broke towing my boat home from gaston and they were on the deck and the strap broke and I lost 5 pricy rods...they wrote me a check minus deductable no questions...2nd on I hit something in the river and got a prop , prop shaft and skeg replaced minus deductible no questions and no rate increase !!! Gotta love Progressive.

Good to hear. I hit something last week, and am about to file a claim with Progressive. I think the motor is OK, but I sure as heck hit something, and don't want to "wait and see" what happens next spring when I throw a tooth or grenade a lower unit.

I wont get into all the details but I hate progresive. They gave me a serious run around. I thought I was making the right choice with them but man I was wrong. I now have State Farm and love them. I hit a wingdam on the river. They did not even look at my boat. They paid for a brand new lower unit, prop no questions asked. Got to love that.

Well, give us the details. I have SF for everything else, but have Progressive for my boat. I just got my boat back, and everything was cool, and they worked well with with me. But there wasn't any damage to the lower unit, so crisis avoided, so maybe I didn't see them at their "best," and didn't have to deal with them when there was several thousands at stake.
