2001 johson 150 carb HELP motor wont start
When I first try to start my motor it floods out really easy and wont start. If I tilt the motor all the way up gas goes all in the water??.. If I leave the motor up it will start with alot of cranking the smokes really bad but after you run the heck out of it for a few minutes it starts and runs great get up on plane without any missing or anything..
Thanks in advance for anyhelp http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/crying.gif

Can you describe your starting procedure? The OIS 150/175's are usually easy to start.

I pump the primer bulb a few time to firm it up then just push the key in to choke then it used to start right up.. Some on told me something about a red lever behind the breather box that might be out of adjustment some kind of primer?.. I have switched from pennzoil syn oil to evinrude johson xd 50 would this have anything to do with it.. I switched because someone gave me 5 gal of it free.
Thanks again

That would be the primer solenoid remove that air box and make sure the red lever is pointing straight down.

Does that sound to you that that could be the problem?. What about the oil

The red primer lever was pointing straight down. What else could be the issue.
Thanks

Over applying the primer, old plugs, incorrect plugs, wrong gap on plugs. Ignition problems.
