Re: Kentucky Lake (tmurphy)
I have been out of bass fishing for about 5 yrs until now, but I always had the best tourneys around the New Johnsonville area. If I remember correctly, for that time of year, Beaver Dam and Little Beaver Dam always produced some hefty stringers for me. Workin worms around the many boathouses and docks and spinnerbaits in the grass did well. I also caught a good number of fish on rattle traps, chrome and blue was always my best color. I also won the last tourney I fished out of Paris Landing by going after smallmouth down there, but May will be a little late for my favorite smallmouth place I think. If I remember right that touney was in April and it was just at the smallmouth post spawn. We won it with about 22lbs I think. Had one LM about 5 lbs and the rest were SM. The New Johnsonville area will be about a 30 minute run but it was always worth it for me. If you want you can email me at jayrouton@charter.net and I may be able to take you down there before your tourney and show you where I used to fish alot. Just remember that I have been out of fishing for a few yrs so I can't promise anything
Re: Kentucky Lake (tmurphy)
Fished Bass Bay, just south of danville, this morning form about 7:30 until about 11 am. Put 6 keepers in the boat, all between 1 and 2 lbs. Everything was in the front half of the bay, nothing in the back end. Caught on secondary points with grass and a couple came out from under deadfalls. Everything caught with a white 1/4 oz Booyah tandem gold willow silver colorado spinnerbait, with no trailer. Was working it slow. Couple of lost fish on a silver and blue trap. The surface temp was between 64 and 65 and the water was pretty clear. Watched several fish go after the spinnerbait but not very aggressively. Saw what appeared to be a few beds but not many. Cold front came thru last night with wind.
