Evinrude 150 mid 80's trim motor removal???
I think I may have a trim motor that has gone bad and want to remove it to bench-test it and look at the wiring (which appears to have insulation damage). I have removed the 2 screws and it still seems to be captive by something... Am i missing something here?...
I will post pics if that will help.

Yes! that motor should be held in place by 3 screws.

OK, so I assume that pulling the outboard to get clearance from the jackplate is the ONLY way to get to the far screw correct?

No you should be able to remove it by removing the bolts that hold the complete assembly in place. They are on each side of the mounting brackets. From the looks of the hammer blows on the motor it looks like it needs to be replaced.

Those hammer blows were there when I bought the unit... Not my BFH scars!
OK I removed the mounting bols for the entire unit, but it is still captive between the rails and moves up and down about 3/8" and tilts about 2 degrees... Not enough to access the screw. What now?

Pop off the motor,, Sorry. Nature of that beast.
