Not sure about Cayuga, but a good summer finger lakes pattern is to dropshot in 15-30 feet for smallies (gulp, 3" senkos, etc.) and fish the outside weed edges for largemouth. Morning or late afternoon/evening is better.

Haven't been there yet this year, but I focus on the weed lines and bays on the northern end. Allway holding Largemouth, but you need to keep moving until you find them and a pattern that will work. There is a big tourney up there this Saturday (FLW BFL). Supposed to be up to 400 boats. Are you in this tourney?
