#3... Oswego river... anybody....
#3 in my new places to try weekly question... Oswego river, from canal to the lake... lets here quality, ramps, access etc...
I've heard of the great fishing at the mouth near the lake, walleye... anything on bass in the river? i know it has a few locks... thanks!
Re: #3... Oswego river... anybody.... (capticeman)
This is also on my list of places to hit this summer. I talked to one guy who fishes it and he had great things to say about the stretch between the locks in Phoneix and Fulton. Lots of backwater area for largemouth. The big problem is the limited ramp space. There is a small launch (no docks or anything) behind the old miller brewing company on County Route 57. You could also launch at the Three Rivers ramp and lock through. This is all the info I have on it, probably not a lot of info on it out there due to the limited access, no tournaments, etc.

Any hotels near that brewery ramp? has potential for a NY BBC get together...
Re: #3... Oswego river... anybody.... (capticeman)
There's a few small ones in Fulton itself. It's also about 15-20 miles from some hotels in Syracuse.
Re: #3... Oswego river... anybody.... (bschwoep)
theres a bunch of the little mom and pop motels in the fulton area but I'm willing to bet you want to do as Brandon says and hit the northern 'burbs of the 'cuse 10-15 minutes down the expressway.
not to sure about that one for a BBC rally. I think once you check it out you'd agree. I'm leaning henderson/chaumont if we can find a good spot to gather/bbq- like a state park or something.

Went to school out in oswego and I always heard about the shallow weedy areas from fulton south. Might take a trip out there this summer to check it out. Not a heavily fished river besides during the salmon runs from what I saw
Re: #3... Oswego river... anybody.... (Bronzebackpro7)
good info on it in "the cruising guide to new york waterways and lake champlain" by chris brown III
check it out at the library... old book but great to keep on hand...
I'm kinda looking forward to trying this place in Sept...
Re: #3... Oswego river... anybody.... (capticeman)
the best spot between phoenix and the lake is definately ox creek
back in the day's when it was legal to lock out of oneida for tourney's
I made that run a couple times and came back with 18+ lbs of frog fish.
there are alot of good dock fishing up there as well.

Where is the best place to launch to hit the good largemouth/northern area, is it that launch right on 481 right after u pass Fulton going North? Id like to make a trip out in May to check it out.
