He picked a long shaft used 1997 vintage motor to mount on a LUND. He told me some guy said he can build up the transom to use this engine. The boat needs a short shaft rude.
Wouldn't it be smarter to change out the lower case to a short type rather than modify the transom?

I guess it would depend on how much money it would take to build up the transom vs new parts to shorten the shaft. Before I bought my Nitro I was fishing out of a 14' Lund w/ a 1988 25hp Evinrude 25" shaft. I just took some 2X4 and built up the transom for $20 vs sticking roughly $200 to shorten the shaft by 5". Cost includes labor and parts.
