1999 Evinrude Ficht 150hp

I am looking at buying a used bass boat with a 1999 Evinrude Ficht 150hp engine on it. I do not have the serial # yet, I am waiting for the dealer to call me back with it. But before I waste any more of the guys time who is selling the boat, I thought I would come here for some help. I have been a long time reader of the site and have always learned a lot from the posts here.

So about the engine, I have heard some bad things about the Ficht engines and it is making me a little nervous about this boat. Are there mechanical problems that I should know about before buying this boat? Or anything else that I should know about? A compression check was done and everything came back good. Any advice and help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Post the Model and Serial numbers here and someone will probably run a history check on it for ya. we're fortunate to have some great marine techs on this forum and they will help you anyway they can.. I have an 2000 evinrude ram 150 that has had 3 powerheads replaced while still in warranty so I would recommend to approach this engine with caution.. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/USA1.gif

I'm gonna have to agree ,I have read a lot on here and it seems those were the motors that put evinrude under,nearly everyone had a failure.
