As long as the fuel side is working, just make sure that the oil inlet is capped off so it doesn't suck air and cause damage to the internals. Disconnect the 4 wire harness from the oil side. Make sure you mix at 50:1 ratio. If you decide to replace it with a new VRO they (BRP) has recently had a price increase in their parts so have some nitro glycerin handy.
Re: 1999 johson 90 hp (ChampioNman)
should i hook the oil side back up or leave it unhooked
Re: 1999 johson 90 hp (ChampioNman)
it seams to run ruogh since the vro was unhooked. i checked all the pluse that was put in the hoses all seam to be still tight .
Re: 1999 johson 90 hp (ranger73)
That is totally up to you. If you choose to do it, mark your Oil tank at your current level. Mix TCW=3 oil to the gas at 50:1 ratio, connect the oil inlet line to the pump and with someone pumping the bulb attach the hose to the inlet fitting. Attach a ratchet clamp and keep pumping. Monitor the oil drop in the tank. If it drops they you should be good to go.

would unhooking the oiler make it run rougher
