Post Your Lake Hartwell Report's In This Thread .
Fished BAIT SC Division tourney today, cold and overcast early with just occasional sun and about 10 mph winds. Around 10, the temps dropped and the rains moved in, shutting down the bite. Would have been better had the wind continued blowing but.....
Blast off was around 7:15 and Don D and I had our limit by 8:00, and were culling before 8:10....problem was all the fish were the same size.
Caught all fish on small crankbaits and spinnerbaits on windy points at the mouths of pockets in 6-8' of water on stumps.
Water temps were 58-59 and water was clear, with visibility around 10'
Several limits weighed in today, with many in the 15-17 lb range and a lot of 4-6 lb fish weighed in.
Fish are starting to school around the mouths of the creeks, and on large flats. Had a few take the fluke yesterday.
You guys have any advice for a co-worker of mine planning to fish at Hartwell this weekend from the bank? He's heading there to pick up his daughter from college and is allowing an extra day to fish from shore.
Just probing thanks for any pointers or locations you would think he would do better from.
ps He'll be on the S.C. side of the lake.

Thx Skeeterman!!
Our first trip to Hartwell, but thought I'd post up what we found for all.
Wife and I fished the ABA Couples Championship out of Gum Branch new Super Ramp the 2 & 3 of Sept. Water was down almost 6.5 feet, and clear on the lower lake. Water temps from 85-89 most places.
Prefishing didn't look good for any size and the often talked about "run and gun" off the deep points didn't look promising so headed up the lake to the Seneca arm. Found several feeder creeks with some color to them and located some good fish around docks in less then 6' of water. We were finesse fishing Roboworms around docks and managed 6 keepers for the tourney that pulled out an 8th place out of 79 boats with a 4.42, and a 5.21 keeping our weight up. The 5.21 also pulled out big fish honors for the second day of the tourney.
Just about all the winning sacks came from less then 5' of water dragging big worms and jigs near brush piles in off colored water. Enjoyed our trip to your wonderful lake and hope to make it back again one day. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/thumbsup2.gif
