Fishing a Jack Pot Tournament May 5,2007. Never fished there before. Someone told me last year the state was cleaning the weeds out of the lake. Did they finish the job yet? Also how bad is the water level ? Any fishing tips would be very help full. Anyone wanting to fish the tournament its $20.00 per angler with $5.00 Big Bass Optional.Winner take all. Starts at safe light til 3:00 PM.

Last time I was there (February). The water level was very low and navigation was poor at best. I drug my trailer at the ramp going in and out. There is also a dredge pipe snaking throughout the lake. Deepest water I found was 5 foot with the average being 2 or so. I think it would take a few hurricanes to fill it to the proper level. I have heard tales of big bass but didn't catch any. A good bait to use is a chrome/blue rattle trap in the grass. You might want to just go look at it and see for yourself if the conditions have changed.

Water level continues to drop. By the time you are supposed to fish you may not be able to get in. Fished there mid month, March, and launched at Tracy's Point could launch with out a lot of trouble but you surely need a partner or your gonna get wet. Most all live green vegetation is gone.
