Water Temps

While I understand what temperatures are supposed to be considered better than others for fishing, I've never known how to tell what the temps might be at any given lake/pond at sunrise. I like to be prepared the night before when ever possible so when I hit the water I'm not spending all my time tying lures right off the bat. Is there a way to estimate what water temps would be , based on the over night air temperatures? With some of the smaller bodies of water not having websites or marinas to check with before heading out I was just curious what others do to get an idea. I believe alot of it has to do with the season.. Right now the temps are starting to stabilize for now until summer kicks in and warms it up some more.... if the water temp is in the mid 60's thats what you can expect they wont change that much unless you get a real cold prolonged front come thru.... Anyway thats what I have found..... Alot of it also depends on the size/depth of the lake/pond the weather can affect them quicker depending on the amt of water..so if you have a idea what the temps are in nearby waters you should be able to guess pretty close what you may be looking at.
