Lake Norfork is 18 inch's from the spillway!!
As of 4/4/08 Lake Norfork is 18 inch's from the the top of flood pool. If it hits 580 the water will start going thru the spillway which hasn't happen since as far back as 1974 and I am not sure it happened then. The lake is full no more rain please. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/praying.gif

Well I guess that settles it then....I won't be going swimming tomorrow in Norfork. (Water displacement would surely cause the water to go over the spillway)! http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/Laugh.gif

There was a good article in the Baxter Bulletin today by Ken Shirley of the AGFC. Even though the fishing is tough on the lake, even tougher for the trout anglers downstream and even tougher yet on the boat dock owners, the bass and crappie spawn this year should be AWESOME.
Acc to Ken "I anticipate a super spawn of crappie, bass and sunfish that will in turn provide important forage for our predator fish like walleye and bass. It's going to be huge." He said he expects the spawn to be a record because an abundance of bass and crappie from the 2001 super spawn will be participating in this year's spawn. "There's an abundance of new habitat around the edges of the lakes to accommodate such a spawn", said Shirley. I know Ken Shirley. He tells it like it is.
It'll be tough fishing and navigating on the lake for awhile longer but thinking long term this is very good news for us bass fishermen. I am planning on hitting the lake sometime next week if the water has receded some and I hope it will given that we expect some good weather for the next few days.
Maybe I can talk Backlash into swimming in Bull Shoals Lake this weekend. That should help the lake level by sending a bunch of the water down the White River http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/Laugh.gif
Larry, could you start your efforts in Jimmie Creek? http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/wink.gif

Lake Norfork is now 3 inches below the spillway breaking the high water record set in 1972. Heavy thunderstorms forecast for today and into Wednesday. Two generators running ful time in overload condition. C.O.E. will make decision on opening the spillways based upon the amount of rain from the new storms.
