SEAHORSE, Thermostats and Grommets ?
Seahorse.
I saw a post on Walleye Central you made talking about Ficht motors and the use of the E-tec thermostats and Gluing some gromets to help make you spark plug last longer. I would like to know a little more about this. I would like to now how to do this as my 2002 200hp is always needing the plugs regapped.
Can you buy any after market thermostat or do I need an Evinrude one?
Thanks

Not Seahorse, you will need to give your model & serial #. What you are trying to do is make sure the operating temperature is in the 140 - 160 range. Use the Evinrude T-stats part # 5005440, gluing the seal in the poppet valve prevents water from leaking past it. If it were me in addition to doing these two steps I would also switch to the QC10WEP's and run the XD100, your engine will love you for it.

Model e200 fplsnf
# 04985302
Sorry about the model number.
What is the poppet value and where is it on the motor?
What kind of glue do you use? super glue or like a 3-M 5200 product?
Do you have a pic maybe.
I was going to switch over to the new style of plug this year. Also have been running xd 100 for two years now. I have used a thermo gun and shot the heads while running and they seem to be around the 140 degree mark.
Thanks for any help.
