Abu or Daiwa? Needing to do something
Well. I've been a die hard Daiwa fan for years but it looks like Daiwa is only catering to the elite reels anymore. I love the Sol & Fuego but they are getting harder to find, so I'm debating whether to sell all of them and switching all my gear to Abu. Abu has been getting tons of awards and they seem to keep quality and price in mind.
So i'm looking for anyone who has used both and what you like/dislike about each.
Thanks!

I use the same reels you do. Tried other brands but I like how Daiwas palm and perform the best. The one STX I had didnt palm as well and it was heavy, it performed fine though. Also I went thru a couple handles on the STX as the knobs bent and individual knobs could not be replaced as they were riveted in. Maybe the design has changed since then

There are plenty of OEM and aftermarket part for the Sol and Fuego. If you like them, just upgrade as needed.

I love my revos.... but they have been nothing but problems in the bearing department... slowly upgrading and taking care of the problem

It may appear that way but nothing is further from the truth. The Team Daiwa Advantage-HSTA is the hidden gem in the Daiwa lineup. From a reel mechanics viewpoint, that reel is tank-tested-tough and has no equal at that price point. http://www.tacklewarehouse.com....html

While true, the HSTA gets so little buzz and so little promotion, that they may as well not care about it...
Agree though, the HSTA is a great reel, for a good price. Even at the current retail of $200.

Keep your Daiwas! I did what your thinkin about doing in the begining of 2009. Sold all my Daiwas and had a boat load of Revo STX and Premiers. It took about six months and I had sold all my Revos and had a boat full of Daiwas again, not the elite stuff either. My go to reels are still TDX 103 HSDFs. I have some JDM Daiwas and some Steezes but I'll still take the TDX 103 over anything out there. Just feels rite.
Side note: Reguardless of the lure, I cant skip it on a Revo!
