Re: dobyns rods (rangerman391)
Yea that rod would do well for a jerk bait.
The champion is far and above the savvy...though the savvy is still a good rod.
In my hands, the coalition is a very crisp blank. Very light as well.
Some food for thought...I think I'd go with the champ or the coalition rod.
Bass tackle depot carries them and they are a sponsor who is very active and posts regularly.
Anglers warehouse carries them, though they arent a board sponsor, they are my sponsor.

I have a 684cb that I use for jerkbaits. The rod is amazing! I balances out so well and has such great action. You will not lose fish with that rod. I have had Daiwa Zillion's, Shimano Crucial's, and St. Croix rods. I have sold all of them and switched over to Dobyns rods for every application. You won't be disapointed. I would recommend staying with the Champion line or above, not to mention the fact that the 684cb is in the technique specific line of crankbait rods and will perform better than a comparable rod in the savy line. I have used LC Pointer 78xd's all the way up to 112's and even vision 110's and the rod handles them all fine. I've landed some nice smallies this year on that rod and would recommend it to anyone. Not to mention it also makes a great rod for small topwater baits when the jerkbait bite dwindles. Hope that helps.
Re: dobyns rods (wreckingballs)
The Dobyns Champion Series are sweet rods and all I own. Gary stands 100% behind his products and the new Champions are sure a sweet rod. I owned all Powells before, which are still nice rods, but since Gary is really the brains behind both Im staying with who makes the good stuff.
That 684CB is a sweet little rod for cranks/Jerks. I have two of them and a 704cb, 705cb. Some guys like the glass but the graphite rods are slick as can be. You also have to get a 683C for spinnerbaits. By far my favorite rod for 3/8 spinnerbaits!
Re: dobyns rods (rangerman391)
several options-
684 cb would be a very good choice, but a lot depends on what you prefer -- graphite or glass and how long. I never used much glass until i started using dobyns and i like the glass models quite a bit for jerks, topwaters, and cranks-
If you stay in the champion line there are the cb series which offers several options depending on preference
Here is a list of retailers- you can "test drive" a rod at many dealers to see what you like, one of the many great things about Dobyns

Re: dobyns rods (jjpatton)
I have two Savvy's with a plan to get a few more or even a Champion. After coming from lower end model rods it has improved my fishing significantly. There are always excellent deals on Dobyns rods here in the Rod for Sale. Check that out first and also try posting in the Want to Buy section if you are looking for a good deal.
