Re: Jig Painting (nitro-owner)
My jigs are painted using a 2 step process with illusion paints from http://www.fishingskirts.com
Re: Jig Painting (nitro-owner)
I've just started to paint crankbaits (with acrylic paint) and am getting into making a few jigs, so there are alot of guys on here that will probably know alot more about the best way to do this. What I do to get the "illusion" look is paint my "base coat", let dry, then either shoot this stuff, or brush it on

Let that dry, and then shoot your "topcoat" to it and then I brush epoxy onto the whole thing when I put the weedguard in.

I learned the hard way that if you can do the illusion effect with powder paint then its a whole lot more durable than a painted and epoxy jig.
Re: Jig Painting (Mark Perry)
Mark, do you use their recommended black base coat or will any black powder paint work as the base?

Its actually a black chrome base which is a damn good color on its own. I just use that along with their other illusion colors. The quality of this brand is very good in my opinion. Never any clumps or such.
Re: Jig Painting (nitro-owner)
can this be done with regular powder paints? I do the typical solid colors. if so how do you do it?

I use regular power paint and make it look somewhat like this. I dip the jig head in paint then pinch a little of a different color and sprinkle it on. I can post a pic later tonight.

I am not sure as I have only used the kind I listed above.
Re: Jig Painting (Mark Perry)
I use regular powder paint and I have some of the Boss paints from fishingskirts.com. I actually like creating my own unique colors using a mix of both and have came out with great results! Just use your imagination and have fun.
