Pacific Bay Minima reel seat how to install
Wanting to use this reel seat on one of my rods but not sure how to go about doing so. Does anyone cut the threaded end down? What do you use for an arbor, masking tape ok? Really like the reel seat but to me it looks a little funny the way it is any feedback will help.

I've just finished two baitcasting rods with them (my second and third builds). I cut the excess threads off to make it cleaner looking. I would use arbors to install the threaded section myself. I have a custom rod with a split reelseat that is a couple of years old (before my rod building days) that was built with masking tape and it came loose this year on a 100 degree day. Also, I would use epoxy ramps on both sides of the threaded section. I makes a more comfortable grip to me.
Also, with these seats, some reels will not seat too well in the bottom section. My Revos and older Shimanos work fine but my Quantums will not.

I would use a brick foam arbor to shim the barrel portion. You can definately trim the barrel to the same length as the seat hood. I like to sand the edge I cut down on a superfine sanding pad....it smooths out the cutting marks and makes it look finished. Just be sure you measure how far our to install the barrel before you mount it...there is nothing worse than a split seat that is too big for your reel.
