need somebody to paint a lure for me
i've never had a custom painted lure before so i'm completely new to this. my dad has a balsa bagleys bang-o-lure that has been one of his favorite lures that i would like to have custom painted as a gift to him. he caught 2 bass at the same time on this lure before which was amazing (one was 2 pounds and the other was 2.5 pounds). he's also caught an owl before. craziest thing, came down out of a cypress tree and grabbed the lure and got tangled up on the line. i thought the bird was going to drown but we got it in the boat, untangled it and set it up on the bow of the boat where it stayed for about 30 minutes before it flew off, apparently unharmed.
the current paint on the lure is the silver belly, blue top, and black stripes on the side. currently, the paint is chipped in a few places. can somebody point me in the direction of who can paint this and restore its glory while giving it an awesome paint job.

i replied to your im
as for paint scheme, i want something similar to what was on the lure initially, just with more detail and whatever else the person that paints it feels would make it a truly beautiful lure.

If it is a old bagley. The silver could be foil and not paint. If the silver you are talking about looks more like textured chrome it is a foiled bait. I can't foil a bait and make it look right. Check with a few of the sponsors and ask if they can replace the foil. Silver paint and foil on the bait are 2 different looks.

It is paint, not foil. We have some o the newer foil lures. This one I probable 15 or more years old.

Ok I'm a painter and if someone tells me they've got a bait that works great I tell them that If the bait catches fish your crazy to repaint it, why chance changing the balance on the bait. Just reseal the broken spots with some epoxy, 99% of the time you will alter a balsa bait by repainting it if done correctly, go find some of the same model and get them repainted.....just my .02 http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/wink.gif

so true, if it is really a go to bait for you, don't mess with it until it absolutely needs to be.

ok, i guess i will just tuck the lure away. the fact is, we have bought the newer foil version and have the same luck with them so this one won't ever get used again. just figured i'd get it painted up nice and give it back to my dad as a gift to keep, no fish with.
Re: need somebody to paint a lure for me (n10sivern)
I would still use it but if you buy 10 cranks and one seems to be really special and catch twice the fish as the others I wouldnt touch it, however if you think it's nothing special by all means paint it http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/wink.gif
