Long Shank Spinnerbait Hook
Re: Long Shank Spinnerbait Hook (C-Man)
The Daiichi hook is smaller than Mustads. A 4/0 Daiichi is like a 3/0 in Mustad. I like Daiichi better because of the black finish.
I wish Mustad would make a Black Nickel 32608.

Couldn't agree more! I wish there was a Universal standard for hook sizes.

Re: Long Shank Spinnerbait Hook (Munkin)
Guys,
So is the Mustad hook the largest one available for spinnerbaits...I am particularly interested in the hook length...what about Gammy and Owner?
Thanks again
Re: Long Shank Spinnerbait Hook (C-Man)
To me there is only one spinnerbait hook to use... Owner.

Mike,
I couldn't agree with you more, I definitely like the Owner hooks, just wondering if a 5/0 Owner is the same size as a 5/0 Mustad spinnerbait hook? I am particularly interested in the shank length
Thanks again...

Re: Long Shank Spinnerbait Hook (C-Man)
The 3/0 owner is like most others 4/0... Not sure about shank length. You can put the wire a lil' deeper in the mold to make more shank stick out, But depends on what mold, size of the head. Don't go too far back though.
Re: Long Shank Spinnerbait Hook (C-Man)
Mike,
I am actually looking for a straight long shank spinnerbait hook to make grass and swimming jigsÂ
see link belowÂ
that is why I am looking for the longest shank available on an spinnerbait hookÂ
do you have other thoughts on which hooks may work?

Re: Long Shank Spinnerbait Hook (C-Man)
Yes... I used to buy Owners X-heavy strait shank worm hooks.. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/wink.gif I suggest that you have atleast a 20* bend or the bait will roll over with the hook pointing down. I have done this many years ago. You will need to add a keel/weight to the bottom of the head with a strait shank strait through the head. I took the worm hooks and added a slight bend to the tip. I broke many learning what to do. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/doh.gif
