JMHO, (and what I do on new cranks) you don't want a thick clear or you take a good chance of altering the weight/balance of the lure. I use Enviro-Tex Lite ( available at many craft stores, get mine at Hobby Lobby) thinned w/methanol about 25% by volume. This will give you a very thin but tough clear, but you'll need a lure turner to keep from getting drips. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/boardstuff2/beers.gif
