Re: Good Skirt Tool (BigCheese)
http://www.nakedbaitco.com/products.html this is a pretty neat tool & works well sells for $30, don't know if you'll find one of the "skirtmaster' tools since they went out of production about 2004. I heard someone bought the rights to the old skirtmaster plier tool & is supposed to put them back out on the market but I haven't heard a time frame.

Re: Good Skirt Tool (21XDC)
I really like the pro-model expander but didn't really want to spend that much.
Alan have you used the one from Naked Bait Co.???? If so how would you rate it. $30 sounds like it might be the right price for what I plan on doing.
Re: Good Skirt Tool (BigCheese)
Jason, it's a really neat tool, I have 2 of them (sometimes I get my wife to help me make skirts http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/Laugh.gif ) they've held up well (about 13 months & prob. 3K skirts). The parts are some kind of high density plastic (prob. HDPE) but it seems to last OK so far, I'm toying with making one totally out of metal but haven't had time to get far w/ this project. If your using it for personal use, it'll probably last ya several years at least. I've made my own bench-mount expander like the ones 21XDC posted for ya using a woodworking cam-action clamp & some stainless rod but it's a bit of a pain to build. Maybe this winter you could build one if you want one like it for cheap. I think materials & all I have about 25 bucks in mine. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/boardstuff2/beers.gif
Re: Good Skirt Tool (weighinalimit)
Thanks for all the help everyone...gonna go with the one from Naked Bait Co. and give it a whirl. I don't build a whole lot of jigs maybe 200 or so per year so I think this one might get the job done.
Re: Good Skirt Tool (BigCheese)
jason go to a bow shop and get an arrow cut off and use the point end to slide the collar on and stuff the skirt end into the arrow shaft slide the collar onto the skirt .dont use a carbon arrow go with aluminum works best http://www.bassboatcentral.com/boardstuff2/beers.gif
