Shorten and lenghten??????
No really! I think what I need is a flippin' stick blank, cut down about 6" and then lenghten the butt section about a 12", to make the overall lenght 8'. The reason you ask? I need something to handle 1 3/4 0z. weight, plus the weight of the bait, 50 or 65# braid, and be able to wrestle these fish out from underneath these "vines"!!!! Has anyone attempted this? Redneck from R.I., you interested in trying to tackle something like this? http://www.bassboatcentral.com/boardstuff2/beers.gif http://www.bassboatcentral.com/boardstuff2/beers.gif http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/USA1.gif

AJ........................
What you need to do is find someone near you that owns a rod built on the Shikari FS 804 and try it out....................Just to see if it has the KAHUNA's to handle the weight.
It will handle the braid without issue and will muscle the best of them out of the thick stuff..............My only concern would be how much control you would have with that kind of weight.
I would be a little afraid that you might blow the blank up after cutting 6" off the tip and then using 65# braid......................That combined with the voided warranty once you trim it.
Actually there are a few Muskie blanks out there that might do the trick or you could always go with the old tried and true E-Glass blanks if your not worried about rod weight..........
Not that I am against experimenting with your thoughts................
Re: Shorten and lenghten?????? (FastCat 250)
i'm telling ya right now, i think the new Loomis IMX 1 piece FS904 will do it. when i did the static deflection test for the RDA, the sucker was almost 1000g to deflect. this thing is massive. i sold the blank, because it was TOO MUCH power for my flippin/pitching needs. it made my old mahogany L904 and shikari FS764's seem like dropshot blanks.
might be just the ticket...
