Swim Jig?

What is a swim jig? Is it the same thing as a chatterbait? Then how do you fish it, is it the the same as a regular jig, retrieve wise? Any Info would be greatly appreciated. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/USA1.gif

a swim jig has a pointed flat head similar to a spinnerbait head, it is not a chatterbait which is a vibrating jig. the swim jig is made for swimming or a steady retrieve with twitches and pops. being as you are from MD I asume that you fish the potomac. I use it in sparse to medium density grass casting it to the edge and reeling it back to the boat just fast enough to tick the grass,similar to a chatterbait or rattlebait I use either shad or bluegill/craw colors and matching trailers either grubs or flapping craws matched to the skirt color hope this helps and if you need more info feel free to PM me

It looks like a pointy headed jig, use a grub or paddletail as a trailer, just throw out and crank back with a twitch now and then, killer!!

Both of these guys are right on. Most swim jigs have the bullet head style with a 28-30 degree hook. Its a technique they say was born on the Upper Mississippi River. Its a great presentation around vegetation or anytime fish are relatively shallow. Very good alternative to spinnerbaits and square bills around laydowns aswell. For equiptment I use a 7' mh moderate/fast to fast action rod. I use the moderate/fast when I use #30-#40 braid around vegetation. The fast action rod with braid seems to pull the bait away from the fish(operator error). I use the 7' mh fast with #15-#20 mono in any other situation.

Bladless spinnerbait is the easiest answer and yes they work on the Potomac.
