Summer time tidal rivers..where the hell do the fish go?
Ive been spending some serious quality time searching out deeper cover to crank and jig, but have yet to catch anything. I pitch deeper banks, nada. I know they school and hit on top in the morning and I can catch those, but where the hell else could they go later in the day? Do they pack up and go North for the summer?

Don't know in your area but I used to live in Beaumont TX and fished the Neches a lot. High tide would put them in the swamps and shore brush/trees. Falling tide would stack them up at the feeder channels and slough mouths, catching bait that washed into the deeper/main water. Low tide you'd catch them on deeper structure like points where feeder creeks/sloughs met larger channels, sand bars, outside bends of channels, etc. May not be the same there but might be worth a try.

On the Tidal Potomac they go into the grass beds. Then it is either fish over the top on grass on high tide, punch through the grass, or fish the grass edges on the last two hours of the outgoing tide. There is always fish deep close the beds.
