Never used the KVD swim jigs, all my swim jigs are the Omega swim jigs. I use a soft swim bait for a trailer. Works really well, I use it like a spinnerbait.
I use the KVD swin jigs a lot. Really like the blue gill color and the smokey shad. I use these like I would spinner baits. I use mainly a swining craw like a zoom speed craw or a little otter on these. I do use a much heavier jig when I am using a swinbait trailer. I use a Falcon Cara Swim Jig rod for the KVD jigs.
I fish my swim jigs with the same rods and line that I use for Eakins or Football jigs, 7 foot MH, with 10-15 fluorocarbon.

ditto what 20lb sack said http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/thumbsup2.gif KVD jigs are not bad but SK uses cheap components and they rust too fast. Also they are all made in costa rica to which I say that I'd rather give my $$ to a US jig maker.
i fish my swim jigs on a 7'4 medium heavy or a 7'6 heavy depends on the cover im fishing, always throw it on 17 lb fluoro or 50 lb braid
I prefer the "heavy cover" model. It has a bigger, stronger hook. And more weed guard, which you could trim some off if your not fishing around wood. Mostly the 1/2 oz size. Swim senko or Zoom Ultravibe Speed worm. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/thumbsup2.gif
No experience here with the KVD jigs. I would like to see your $$$ go to board sponsor though. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/USA1.gif
Swimming jigs is a pretty popular technique here in NC. When the bite is on, look out! http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/thumbsup2.gif
I prefer the 6"10" Team All-Star 827C
Ordered my swim jigs from Flatlands Custom Baits (board sponsor). Like the baitfish colors like crappie or perch. I use a soft swimbait as a trailer and a 7' MH crankbait rod with 15lbs flurocarbon. Because of the weedguard, you can throw this bait in a lot of cover.
I use flatland custom tackle swim jig with a twin tail trailer joey is a board sponsor my 2 cents for what's it worth they are the best jigs made I use a little different retrieve I cast, reel about 4 turns and stop the bait and jig it a coulple of times this techn. for me anyway is deadly in weeds
Ditto on the "heavy cover" version of the KVD swimjigs...I've enjoyed good success with them this summer on the upper Mississippi River here in MN. I have found them to be very durable, something that I cannot say for some other brands I've tried. I also like the lockjawjigs swimjig...it also has been quite productive and has held up well. The upper Misissippi here in MN is very tackle unfriendly so for a jig to last very long, it has to be well made. Best color for me in the KVD has been Black/Blue and in the lockjawjigs, Whiskey. I use a 6'6" fairly stout trigger stick and 30 lb. braid. Most of my swimjigs are 3/8 oz. and I use Strike King Rage Chunks on the crawfish colors and a variety of curly tail grubs, single and double tail, for the minnow colors. Occasionally, I'll use a 4" GYCB 4" Swimming Senko or a small soft plastic swimbait for a trailer on the minnow colored swimjigs.
Make yourself learn to use swimjigs...you'll be glad you did.
thanks for all the yips, hey george, i forced myself to use these tonight on the neighbor's pond with a swim senko for a trailer and the bass were all over them!! thanks again guys..karol
Karol,
Give Franks jigs a try at lockjaw, theys are great. Joey at Flatlands also makes a great jig.
My swim jig rod is usually a 7 foot mh rod with a fast tip. I prefer Yozuri hybird or Mc Coy line over floro. If you use floro make sure your using strong line that wont break on the set.
Would love to build you some Jigs. I use longer rods usually 7' plus med-med. heavy action depending on conditions and how heavy the jig is. Give me a call Those KVD jigs wont outlast anything any of us Board Sponsors build.Save your money go with a custom tied bait!Good luck!! http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/thumbsup2.gif http://www.bassboatcentral.com/boardstuff2/beers.gif
i should have done that but my kids got me a gift certifcate to a "place" in missiour that sells a lot of "pro bass" stuff. would my graphite "96" flippin stick be too stiff for these guys? thanks ..karol and, frank, i'll be giving you a call soon
