Snaps or tie directly to the split ring?
Still fooling around with this for hard bait fishing. I think I get more action out of the snap but I see most pros tie directly to the split ring. I like the snap for quick bait changes and less retying.
I've tied a snap on and put it through the split ring and it really makes the bait move a lot more. I've also taken the split ring off and put the snap through the line tie and that creates a whole other type of "wiggle".
Wondering what approach you guys like and why?
Thanks! http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/thumbsup2.gif

The snap needs to be retied just as often as the split ring. I use a snap when prospecting, ie. looking for fish or a color they want.

check out the Norman quick snaps! I've been using them for twenty years, or so, and have never had one single issue. They are much stronger than an ordinary snap.

I use a snap on the split ring for years and won a lot of money and tourneys with that method. I see no drawback to it what-so-ever

I personally don't use snaps. I prefer just to eliminate a variable, some component that "may" fail or cause some other issue. It's just a preference. If you have found something that works well for you and, most important, you have confidence throwing, keep on fishing that way. Neither way is wrong.
