Clear Lake (lake county CA) fishing tips for end of March first week of April?

Good day guys, my 8 year old son and I are planning on trekking down to the West Coast Mecca of Bass fishing during his Spring break from school. I live in Spokane WA and have never been to this lake and was wondering if any of you guys had any tips and hot spots you might share. I would really like to see my son catch an 8 plus pounder.
