line breaks

I'm at my ends wits with the Tungston weights. I have lost several fish using this weight. Last night I was fishing a 10 inch worm with a 3/8 oz weight with 15 pound test Berkley big game had a good fish on and the line broke, it cost me the win. I had a limit and needed that fish to put me over the top!! I was using the same set up at another tournament this past weekend flipping with beaver and a 3/8 oz pegged (using rubber) weight and the same thing happened twice costing me yet again!! When I flipp baits I put some mega strike on the bait and the line so when I set the hook I get the seperation needed for a good hook set and that still dosen't help with fray..What is the deal?? Is there a trick out tere to keep the weight from fraying the line? These don't have inserts and are the Tru Tungston brand. Expensive as heck but more so when it cost you even more money when you break one off due to line fray after about 10 casts..
I love the way you can feel everything on the bottom with these weights but and about to switch back to good ole lead if this keeps up since I very seldome have a problem with lead and line breaking..

buy the ones w/ the insert and yiour fraying problem will go away.

Make sure you're lubing the rubber pegs, it's possible you're burning the line, you might try a bobber stop. I've never had a break off I thought was caused by the weight using weights by, BPS, Tru-Tungsten, and Excaliber.

I always use something to wet the line especially when pegging the sinker, usually mega strike which makes it slicker than owl snot..After I broke a big fish off lastnight I retied and checked the line after about 20 casts and it had small nicks in it. from the knot to about 2 inches above the knot...I will prob be switching back to lead..

I'd try a bobber stop, I seldom peg tungsten weights, but it sounds like when the line is forced tight against the sinker the hard surface is scoring the line.

Put a rubber Bobber Stop between the weight and the eye of the hook. End of problem. Jim
