What kind of structure you plan on fishing them in?...
They can be fished C-rigged, Tx Rigged with or without a weight...Wacky style.....
If shallow water weightless is usually better....if weight is needed...try split shoting (put a small weight about 12"-15" up the line and pinch it) kind of a small version of a C-rig.....Wacky style...do yourself a favor get some o-rings to use them they will last forever this way....There is a guy in the Misc. items for sale board that has a good deal on them for this....then take a sharpie pen, take it apart use the longest end of the pen, put the senko in it, slide the o-ring on the senko, then run the hook under the o-ring (between the o-ring and senko) sometimes put a small finishing nail in the head of the senko to get it to fall a little faster...you can also Shakey head rig them!
In the past couple years I've gotten to where I have a senko on just about all the time...I don't fish the real senkos, but I prefer the Wave Worms (because of price)
I've never tried wacky rigging them, but what I do is texas rig them weightless...just toss around weeds, brush, or open water even sometimes and twitch it along...sometimes I'll let it sink a little, sometimes keep it near the surface, and just vary the speed of your retrieve
I especially like having one rigged up while I'm fishing a topwater during the summer...if I miss a fish on a buzzbait or frog, about 80% of the time I can throw back in there and catch that fish on the senko...but don't just work it around the area where you missed the fish, work it all the way back to the boat, because that fish is probably watching it
Good luck http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/USA1.gif
throw it out weightless on a 5/0 and let it sit as long as you can stand it.... then reel the fish in... http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/eek.gif
4/0 wide gap hook...throw it out there let it set....twitch it every now and then. You'll catch 'em http://www.bassboatcentral.com/boardstuff2/beers.gif
using the 5/0 or 4/0 hook-are we talking hooking it wacky style or texas rig?
Tex-posed
I wouldnt even really worry about having a technique before you go out. The first time I went out with them years ago, I was catching decent bass in no time. Good luck with them.
If your going to fish it weightless in water with any depth the go wacky style. It will help you to keep some line tention on the bait without movint it as much as T-riged.
what shawn 706 said. http://xs-s.com/zf/images/smile/emthup.gif http://xs-s.com/zf/images/smile/emthup.gif also, fishing wacky, you may want to pick up some o-rings, and wacky tool. available from members in the for sale forum. boomer has great deals on the rings, and bcbasser has a great wacky tool at a very fair price. also, wave worms has some great deals on tiki sticks at their website. they sink slower, but do the job, and are much more durable than the senko. good luck!
One more reason to get ya some o-rings & a wacky tool....if you put an o-ring 1/8" down from the end when t-rigging a senko, it'll last longer cause the head won't rip out as easy on the hookset. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/boardstuff2/beers.gif
