Spooling line on a spincast
Need help,
Everytime I spool my spincast I get the line all twisted up..I once seen Woo Daves spool a spincast and talked about every so many turns till you feel the line getting twisted...Can someone point me in the right direction with a link or explain it step by step..... http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/USA1.gif

What I do is run the line through the all the eyes of the rod. I have one of my kids hold he spool with a penciel through it. (If no kid avalilbe I hold it with my toes and use the carpet to slow the spool.) Once you get it full your going to have some twist, theres just no way around it. Take it out in the yard, let out the line while walking in an S pattern. Then reel it in.

You have to lay the spool FLAT when spooling open face reels...Baitcasters should be spooled upright on a pencil or something that will let the spool rotate while filling your reel. http://xs-s.com/zf/images/smile/emthup.gif
Also, most lines like Berkley have a little tips sheet in the spool box that tells you how to spool open face reels and baitcasters.

Something that also works is if you have a long no wake area just let the line spool out behind the boat. The drag of the water will pull it out. It will also untwist the line. Before the buoy, just reel it back in. If you feel you need a weight, you can use a swivel. It also works after the line twists up while fishing by the bait. Hope this helps. Curt

Re: Spooling line on a spincast (kp crane)
I use the kid technic too. Just spool it on any old way. Give the end to one of my kids, and send them out in a straight line (I live in the country). Holler for them to drop it when they get all the line out, and reel it back on while slightly pinching the line between my fingers as it enters the reel housing. Works every time. http://xs-s.com/zf/images/smile/emthup.gif

Hey Guys,
Thanks for all the great tips..I have heard about just letting it fall in the water and just troll out for a little bit and reel it in...but once I get on that water all I want to do is catch fish....We had snow here last night about 4 inches (Texas) hoping to get on the water and get that line straight and lok for some spawing areas on Belton Lake to see if I can get into that bass that stole my popper last yr.... http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/USA1.gif
