Couldn't have said it better. You also forgot swimming it. It is just to versitile of a bait to use only one retrieve.
just look for the lil white sign to float up..with 3/8oz blue/black jig with super chunk trailer..

This is the 100k question... and the guy who figures out the presentation 1st finishes high... generally if there is no jig bite in your best 2 spots or an hour, put it down... in deep jigging short swims seem better... its tough to explain to people there are probably a dozen retrieve variations... sort of makes bassin what it is... a mental challenge... I have read lots of jig fishing articles since late 2004 when I got tired of being waxed by the jig guys... and jumped in with both feet... opinions vary for sure.
