What is the latest with Bandit Crankbaits... I know the company changed the hooks and vowed to rework the product.... have these changes been made or is it still the same bait from China?

When the Bandits were first being made in China I was bustin' them up like crazy. The paint was coming off and they were cracking like egg shells. I stuck with them, though, because they are my best producers. And, after a while, I noticed they weren't breaking anymore. I have bought them throughout the summer and early fall and they are all in great shape. I can say with certainty that they have fixed the problem.
I would recommend buying them where they have a fresh stock of new inventory. Don't buy them at a small shop that might still have the early China models.
I broke one i bought this summer it was one that been on the shelf for a while at a farm store. Any way long story short called bandit they said send it back and they would replace it. They sent four crankbaits back to me that week . I have used them all summer and fall wacking wood rock and my boat and still going strong

That's great to hear... now if I could only differeniate between the first chinese models and the latest chinese models http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/doh.gif I've always like Bandits and it's good to know they are being built for quality again http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/popcorn.gif
i have quite a few of them and have only had the lip on 1 break so far
there is a lot of the others that have been beat around pretty hard and not had any problems with them so far
Well shoot I thought it was just me.....I have a few first fish sinkers in my compartment and a couple I tossed after removing the hooks and split rings...I should send them back also.... http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/Laugh.gif http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/Laugh.gif As it was I figured I was donating to the fishing Gods http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/wink.gif http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/praying.gif
I fished Lake Kerr here in VA this past weekend, a rocky lake with little grass. I threw a medium diving bandit up into a foot of water and bounces it off the rocks all the way out, all day long. I caught a bunch of fish and never broke the bait. Granted the bill is all scraped up but the thing withstood a beating. I'm going back to get more!!! http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/USA1.gif
Glad to hear as I have some on order. They are the only ones that make a bait and color that I like for one place around my house.
Original Bandits came with Triple Grips Hooks, and you can find a few left.
China Bandits (Early models) came with silver hooks, Hooks sucked, and some bandits were brittle.
China Bandits (New Models) come with black hook and I like the hooks and have had no problems with breaking or paint...
A year or so ago they had a bad run of cranks... I have used Bandits 15 years or so... rootbeer and pearl are my favorites, I paint the chest with more red and replace the front hook with a slightly larger red one... rear hooks are replaced with Gamm. #5 by special order.
I had a large amount of Bandits getting the paint knocked off after just a little while of casting. Ended up with quite a few. I contacted Bandit and they replaced each of them. The Clear lip Bandits are the good ones. If you find those with the painted lips, these are the ones with the the paint chipping/flaking issue. Leave them on the rack.

I think that I have had a combination of all of them, some break, some crack, and some are tough as nails..
