Looking for some Help Guys
Lately I have been fishing a small pond close to home. 3 weeks and I have only gotten 1 fish from this pond, I have done well on others and just don't feel like making the drive.
I have thrown everything from tubes, jig & pigs, Cranks (all depth ranges), jerk baits & traps.
The water has been clear of ice for over a month, and is lightly stained, I would guess the water temps in the mid to upper 30's, maybe 40. I have been fishing from shore, as I don't feel like dragging the boat around right now, I am just going for 2-3 hours at a time.
Normally under those conditions I do well there on jigs.
Thanks for any help you guys can provide...
Mike
Re: Looking for some Help Guys (Mike Adams)
A couple of things to make sure, is to go late in the day and fish the areas the sun has been on all day.
Fish SLOW. If they aren't hitting the jig, try a small worm, or a Senko, weightless and fish it slowly, even deadsticking it.
Somedays they will hit a worm when they won't hit a jig. Work it slowly, and then slow down some more. Sometimes crawling it an inch at a time, rather than hopping it off the bottom. That is still some cold water
If you want to work something a bit faster moving, try using a small 1/8 oz Roadrunner jig. Use 6-8# test, and make long casts allowing it to fall to the bottom, and then just start retrieving it back fast enough to keep the blade moving. I have caught some fish as big as 6 lbs on those tiny baits in extremely cold weather.

Thanks Don, I will give that a try next time I am out. I just got off the phone w/ Jason from Hookerz and he echoed the small senko idea.
Thanks Again http://xs-s.com/zf/images/smile/emthup.gif

I too believe that the time you decide to fish that day has a lot to do with the activity level of the fish....
Plus, fish smaller finesse baits, like the strike king bitsy tube or the drop shot baits or small cranks or jerkbaits... fish them near rocks because rocks will absorb the sun's heat first.
Re: Looking for some Help Guys (borderbasser)
I would try the jig again but if you move it before the time it takes to eat a sammich or two its too fast
try a brown/orange hair jig with a tiny craw trailer same colors or black
Re: Looking for some Help Guys (herbertrhudy)
Small jerkbait like a pointer 78 fished with really long pauses may get a strike. I like the senko idea as well. If you think you are fishing too slow, slow down. good luck.
