Oily Johnson 90 HP

This is the first time that I have started this motor. I have had it for over two years and have been working on the boat and just mounted the motor back on the boat. This motor is a 1984 Johnson 90 HP model number J90MLCRD.

Since this is the first time that I have started it and it had been setting so long I ran the oil mix a little heavy instead of 50/1 I ran it at 40/1 with muffs. Is this normal for the oil leaking with running it a little heavy on the oil and also running it on muffs?

Normal if it took a while to get it to fire up. Comes from excess gas oil mix puddled up.

thanks for the reply. I was about ready to drop the lower unit, but I think that I will wait a little while.
